Sir actually m planning to make a project in .net for my minor one nd a project in java as a major one..so i wnt 2 hv info. abt the topics for both .net and java.
And please elaborate as to xactly wat kind of user interface i cn make..
M a student of IP University,Delhi,pursuing b.tech in computer science and nw in 7th sem.

By User interface, I mean a graphical user interface through which a user can interact. You can actually add a lot of innovation to it also. You can start with a simple login form based application, where a user can register and then only registered users can login. So this way you can also use database too.
Another application can be cryptographic based communications,etc.

You can create an application which has 2 panes 'left' and 'right'it will work as follows:

- User clicks on the application icon.
- The application opens.
- Application icon and name in the top left corner should be confiurable through a property file.
- The left hand side will load an HTML file (its url/path will be hardcoded in a property file).
- Whenever the user clicks on any link in the left pane side the corresponding URL will be opened in the right hand side.
- Accordingly the right hand side should work as if it is a native browser.
You can also join the summer internship program with our mentors to work on some good projects of industry.

Job Portal is a good project, but will have to be developed with lot of things in consideration like scalability,etc.
You can definitely give it a try. Also you can try to make that 2 panes application.
