Hi
The summer trainings are very important to build upon your skill set. Usually students go for Networking training or some basic programming course like C,C++, Java, etc.
You can follow that or you can apply for summer internship to work on some industrial projects. Working on some industrial project will give you a feel of professional approach towards project execution.

Hi Dharam,

Good to see your eagerness to know about how companies work.So let me answer your questions one by one.
1. Operating system in Companies: Mostly it is Windows XP professional. But some electronics companies work on Unix/Linux also. So if you go in embedded, you might get a chance to work on open source operating systems.
2. Requirement in case of languages: Usually companies look for basic concepts from a fresher. So clarity of all basic concepts with analytical ability to write logic for software programs is must. If you can support these with software projects in these languages then it will be very beneficial for you.
3. PHP or JAVA: The answer to this question is market driven. Anything with market demand has value. PHP is usually used in web services, web design and database handling. On the other hand Java has lot of modules. Some are used for web design, database handling, some are used for desktop applications and some are for device applications. So if you can be proficient in these Java technologies then you will have a wider domain to work in.But make sure whatever you learn, learn good and do some projects in that.

All the best!
Feel free to ask if you still have some doubt.
