Hello friends

I m gonna share my experience of INFOSYS selection with you all.

Before I go further I wanna clarify few things

I am technically weak yet pretty strong in 2 subjects of mine, I love reading and I was aware of

everything mentioned in my resume n everything means everything here.

Infy opts for a written exam and a HR interview.

No technical issues so it gives a kind of boost.

The logical part of test was easy n do able English was a bit tricky but my reading helped me in getting

  thru.

Now comes the turn of interview.

I was all high on confidence n  was the first one to be interviewed by my interviewee.

As I entered I found a lady in 40’s sitting there , pretty charming who asked me to hand out my CV n take a seat. I kept my file in my lap . I sat straight looking into her eyes anticipating the ques “INTRODUCE YOURSELF”

Q -Wel she asked me how has been the journey so far

A- I dint know for a sec how to start. Then I started

“wel mam my life has been pretty good full of experiences yet overall I m enjoying this life of mine I have a wonderful supporting family and a group of gr8 friends I have had many bad experiences in life too yet I have learnt from them and they have made me mentally tough n balanced.

Q- what experiences are you talking about?

A- I told her about

1-……………

2-my failure to get into a good engg colege

Q-u mention guitar as hobby which guitar you play?

A-acoustic  ( I would strongly recommend don’t write any thing u don’t know about they would catch you soon. )

Q-(topic changes) (She realizes I play guitar)

What type of books you read???

A-    I wanted this ques bcz I have read many gud books after going thru many fiction novels. I told her about Nandan Nilekani’s (Infy founder) India Imagining, Lance Armstrong-Its not about the bike, The google story. I made her realize reading is a part of my daily routine.

Q-What reading has taught u?How it has enriched u?

A-here I tried to be articulate yet I fumbled my sentence formation was not correct yet I stayed calm. I told her I have gained knowledge about various domains of life like sports n cycling in particular from lance book, story of how google controls the entire search cycle on the internet through google story n etc etc..(if u are a reader u can continue on this answer for hrs else you would stay mum)

Q-You trained at CDAC.What you learnt there?

A-I told her about packet tracer(the s/w I used there,I knew she was a HR manager so I used many technical terms here to show my inclination to technology, I was sure that chances of getting cross questioned were less so I went on and on)

Q-After 3rd year you trained at a manufacturing firm .Y?

A-I told her it was peak recession time. MNCs were not accepting students as interns and due to family reasons I wasn’t interested in paying hefty sum to a center like CDAC again (it was a lie I was preparing for MBA entrance, I was suggested by mentors@careerinfoline not to reveal this thing in a job interview) she was happy that I was being honest(recession thing n family reasons are a genuine reasons)

Q-You are from ECE. How will you work in IT?

A- I told her I was very desparate for the job. May it be TCS or Infosys or Wipro it doesn’t matter to me I want a job before I pass out. I told her all these companies are good in their own ways providing we students a platform to launch ourselves in the corporate world.i also mentioned mine is a C grade college where we don’t get sector specific companies like

Freescale, Intel, Nokia etc for ECE

Tata motors, Jindal Steel for Mech

Indian Oil, Reliance for Chemical so we need to keep us open to get us platforms for learning n all. ( I felt zyada ho gaya hai, hence I went mum)

Now she said she was done with me and I could leave. I was keen to ask her a question I was asked by my mentors to do so as it shows interest in the company. I also wanted to know her name atleast. Yet I decided to walk out. I stood up said thanks and left and finally when the list came out I was among the successful candidates. All I can suggest to my juniors get your mentors who can guide u wel, DO get a good RESUME format, have confidence in your abilities and get communicable so that at least u can convey your view point across the table.
